Biography

João Taboada is a Portuguese actor born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal. The only actor in his family, he grew up with one sister and initially considered studying law before discovering an interest in acting during his school years. While looking for a new extracurricular activity, he encountered his school’s theatre group and quickly became interested in performing. A teacher who played an important role in his early development was Eduardo Frazão, who later directed him in the stage production Garagem, o Nosso Sonho (2024), where Taboada played the character Vizinho. The production received an honorable mention at the Festival Panos. Taboada began developing his acting skills through workshops and masterclasses, including his first training with Rui Santos. After attending a casting with João Nunes Monteiro and later signing with an agency, he started pursuing acting professionally. He began his career in theatre before expanding into film. One of his early screen projects was A Casa (2026), directed by João Santos Silva, which marked an important step in his career. His film work also includes LOUD and several short films such as Os Sinos Tocam à Meia-Noite, Celeste, and Eternamente. Taboada continues to work in both theatre and film. He lives in Lisbon and frequently travels for acting projects.
